Units are entities in Chippy stages composed of pixels.

Each individual pixel has a small amount of HP, letting the player's gunfire "chip" through particles that compose an enemy's body.

Most units have parts, pixels forming a piece that has a single health pool. For each unit, there is a single core that all remaining pixels are to be attached to. The core's HP must be depleted for the unit to be destroyed.

Once the core loses all HP, the respective unit enters a state called "implosion" that involves a visual explosion chain before it dissipates.

Containers are also units, composed of a single core made of enlarged pixels.

Some units lack cores entirely. If these are taken apart, the smaller piece is destroyed.
