Controls

Movement and shooting are the core methods of controlling your character in Chippy. These actions can be performed wither with a keyboard & mouse, or with a controller.

Basic Controls

Movement can be done cardinally or diagonally with a keyboard.

Focusing (known as braking before Redux) slows movement and makes it more precise. It also prevents rotation and increases repulsion from enemy bullets.

Firing the gun can be done similarly with the arrow keys in exact 45-degree directions, or aimed and fired with a mouse in any direction one chooses.

Items can be selected between via keyboard or mouse-scrolling, and a separate control is used to activate them.

Advanced Techniques

Firing backwards will boost the player forward. Shooting a Cannon shot backwards and placing a Bumper provide a similar effect.

The keyboard-and-mouse relative aim feature locks the crosshair onto a moving pixel, aiming the gun automatically and allowing full concentration on avoiding attacks.

Powerups can be selected quickly using keybinds. Up to ten different shortcuts can be used using a keyboard's number keys, or up to four using a controller's directional pad. Each shortcut can be assigned to as many different items as you wish, and repeatedly pressing a button assigned to multiple items you are holding will cycle through a successive item.
